| LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT HANUKAH GIFT? NO CHOLESTEROL..NO CALORIES! | |
| Order Marjorie Gottlieb
Wolfe's new book, "Yiddish for Dog & Cat Lovers."
($13, plus $3.50 postage/handling, USA; $5 postage, Canada) DID YOU KNOW: The Yiddish expression, "Zai shtimen vi a katz un a hunt" means "They agree like cat and dog"? The Yiddish expression, "Koif ayn hunt, bakum ayn floy"? (Buy one dog, get one FLEA)? The Yiddish expression, "Hint shpieln zikh nisht mit dir a khutz der shpiel fun brengen"? (Dogs do not play games with you except fetch.) Comic, Adam Sandler, has a bulldog named "Matzoball"? "Bark Mitzvahs" are being held and some synagogues have begun to hold annual "Blessings of the Animals" to coincide with the reading of the story of Noah's Ark? 9.8 million people celebrate their dogs' birthdays; 13.4 million cats party on their birthdays? Pets aboard the Queen-Mary 2 Trans-Atlantic cruises get their own QM2-logo "mantel" (coat). Add to that a Frisbee, name tag, food dish and scoop; a complimentary "portret" (portrait) with you; a crossing certificate and personalized cruise card. Cats even get their own posts and scratchers? 85% of pet owners admit to having told their bosses that they have come down with something but actually spent their day tending to their animal "bagleyter" (companion)? "Bagleyter" (companion) animals may even help prevent human "krankayt" (illness) and disease. A study of a "toyznt" (1,000) Medicare patients revealed that people with a "hunt" (dog) visited their doctors 16% less than those who didn't have a"hunt"? "Genug iz genug!" (Enough is enough!) Go talk to your dog or cat in Yiddish. Call Marjorie Gottlieb Wolfe at 516-433-5439 or contact her at Wolfeny@webtv.net to order a copy. |
