Scott Gould needs your help Curing Diabetes |
||||||
A message from Scott Gould sgould_2029@yahoo.com Would you like to get some exercise and raise money to cure diabetes? If not then perhaps you can help anyway... This year I will again embark on a worthwile cause...a cure for diabetes. Many of you know that my lovely wife got me addicted to 'spinning' or indoor cycling 2 years ago. This morphed to riding outside and buying a new road bike. Our babysitter/preschool teacher has diabetes and each year rides in this wonderful fundraiser as a way to help raise $$$ to find a cure for diabetes. Claire has lived with this disease for many years and wears an insulin pump. Last year she told me that she was afraid she's have to ride alone and I assured her this would not happen. So, last year I rode 33 miles with her...OK 10 miles with her then 23 by myself because it was getting very hot and I wanted to finish. She needs to stop every 10 miles or so to check her sugar/insulin levels and 're-fuel.' Wouldn't it be wonderful if she could throw away that pump? Sunday June 5th I will be riding in the 66 mile Tour De Cure...not a race. Just a way to have fun and raise $$$ for a worthy cause. Any donation, large or small is appreciated. In addition, if you wish to make your $$$ go farther, my employer Oracle has a Corporate Matching program where they match my donations dollar for dollar. (You won't get the tax break but the American Diabetes Association will get more $$$.) No pressure and again your generosity is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Scott |
